Re: New Subaru Diagnostic System (SDS) Interface Device – Denso DST-010
Subaru of America, Inc. is pleased to introduce the Denso DST-010 as the next Subaru supported interface device for use with Subaru vehicles, SDS Laptops and SSM4 diagnostic software as standard and required equipment. It will replace the DST-i for most functions when using SSM4 or SSM5-R to communicate with a Subaru vehicle. Denso has recently discontinued production of the DST-i.
The DST-010 has new capabilities that may be leveraged in the future including Wi-Fi capability. In addition, the new Denso DST-010 eliminates the need for a separate DLC cable, as it plugs directly into the OBD port on the vehicle. Pricing for the DST-010 is $795.00, plus shipping when available, to include a 1-year warranty. This price represents a significant decrease over the previous interface.
The new DST-010 will roll out to Subaru retailers in several phases. Starting now, all new orders for a Toughbook will include the new model Denso DST-010 rather than a DST-i. Later, a DST-010 for each existing SDS Laptop will be shipped in one of three phases. Each retailer will receive at least one DST010 in the first phase, with distribution continuing into phase 2 and 3 until all active diagnostic laptops have a DST-010 to support vehicle communication. Phase 1 should be completed by the 3rd quarter of 2022, dependent upon supply and shipping constraints.
Once a retailer receives a DST-010, please begin using it in place of the DST-i as the default, daily use interface. At that point, the SOA Service and IT Departments STRONGLY SUGGEST the replaced DST-i be stored away for safe keeping. The DENSO DST-i may still be needed for certain specific functions such as use with the PC embedded oscilloscope, or for communication where SSMIII is required.
Replacement DST-i’s are no longer available. Should any current DST-i become non-functional, please contact SubaruDT (Nuspire) to inquire about the newly established repair program for a damaged DST-i.
Note: Not all failures of, or damage to a DST-i is repairable.
