REMINDER:  Always order the most up-to-date replacement parts based on the specific VIN being repaired.

SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION:

REMINDER:  Customer satisfaction and retention starts with performing quality repairs.

The service procedures for removing and installing the fuel delivery pipes remain unchanged.  Always refer to the applicable Service Manual and review the full requirements of the repair being performed.  The Service Manual procedures contain information critical to performing an effective repair the first time and every time.  This includes but is not limited to: important SAFETY precautions, proper inspection criteria, necessary special tools, required processes and related onetime-use parts needed for a complete and lasting repair.

  • After removing the affected fuel delivery pipe, CAREFULLY remove the pulsation damper.
  • IMPORTANT: Use caution when securing the fuel delivery pipe to not bend or twist the two mounting brackets while removing the damper.  Unscrew the dampers counterclockwise.
  • ALWAYS install a new gasket before re-installing the pulsation damper. Tighten the damper to 21.6 +/- 2 Nm (15.9 +/- 1.5 ft. lbs.).

NOTE:  Always be careful to keep any dirt or contamination out of the damper and fuel delivery pipe(s).

  • The torque specification for the bolts securing each fuel pipe to the manifold is 19 Nm (14.0 ft. lbs.).

REMINDERS:

  • The o-rings used to seal the fuel injectors are also One-Time use items and must be replaced whenever re-installing the injectors and / or fuel delivery pipe(s).
  • Use gasoline to lubricate the replacement o-rings during installation and fuel delivery pipe reassembly.

  • Though it may be new to you, Ring Free has actually been around for more than 20 years. Originally developed to decarbonize engines, we reformulated it in the late 2000s to also fight ethanol sulfate salt corrosion.
