NUMBER: 10-102-21 DATE: 12/06/21 APPLICABILITY: 2019-21MY Forester SUBJECT: Expansion Valve – Design Change INTRODUCTION: This bulletin announces the design change of the expansion valve. The new valve has been fitted with an anti-vibration spring to reduce any vibrations from the ball valve. A customer may experience a high frequency sound from the expansion valve for 20-30 seconds after the engine has been turned off. The source of the sound is the internal ball valve vibrating due to refrigerant flow. If this fault is duplicated, the expansion valve should be replaced. PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION: The new expansion valve has been incorporated into the Forester production as of starting VIN MH563624. PART INFORMATION: REMINDER: Always order the most up-to-date replacement parts based on the specific VIN being repaired.
