INTRODUCTION
A revised rear combination lamp assembly has been developed which utilizes additional sealing material in four areas designed to prevent condensation from occurring on the inside of the housing. When performing this procedure, replace BOTH rear combination lamps at the same time.
COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION
The new combination lamps were incorporated into production December 12, 2013 starting with VIN E*251655.

SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION
- Remove the two 10mm retaining screws then wiggle / slide the lamp assembly straight back toward the rear of the vehicle to release it from the body side retaining clip and alignment pins as shown in the photos below.
NOTE: No interior trim removal is necessary.
- Disconnect the lamp harness to body harness connector.
- Once the combination lamp assembly is removed, remove all the bulb sockets from the housing as shown below and unclip the harness connector from the mounting bracket.
- Using a plastic trim tool, CAREFULLY release the LED harness connector retaining tab as shown below.
NOTE: Always use caution and avoid touching the bulbs. If touched, oil will transfer from your fingers and likely cause premature bulb failure. Use rubbing alcohol to clean any bulbs which have been touched before reinstallation.
- The wiring harness assembly must be transferred over to the replacement combination lamp.
- NOTE: To properly position the harness into its retaining groove in the housing, the new additional sealing material just above the harness connector will need to be partially removed for access as shown in the photo sequence below. Do not disturb the material any more than necessary to properly position the harness.
- CAREFULLY lift/ peel the material up then, once the harness is tucked fully into the groove using a plastic trim tool, push the material back down into place.
- Tuck the LED harness past the sealing material into its corresponding retaining groove.
- Reinstall all the bulb sockets, reconnect the vehicle harness then refit the combination lamp making sure the slot in the side of the housing engages the retaining clip on the body properly.
- Start the vehicle and verify all the combination lamp functions operate properly.
- Torque the mounting bolts to 7.5 Nm (5.5 ft-lb) to complete the procedure.
