Due to design changes of the headlamps and rear combination lamps, moisture and / or condensation formation may develop on the inside of the lamp lenses. The moisture formation is only temporary and will disappear (evaporate) when the temperature inside the lamp assembly rises. Replacement of headlamp and / or rear combination lamp assemblies for this condition is not a matter for warranty. Moisture Formation This condition is most noticeable and commonly occurs in the late fall and early spring. It develops when there are significant temperature differences between the evening and morning or, when washing a vehicle with cold water on a sunny day when the lamps are already warm. This is the same basic scenario which causes dew formation on the inside surfaces of window glass. Bulletin Number: 07-59-07; Date: 11/21/13 Page 2 Examples 1) If a lamp is unevenly warmed by sunshine as shown in the illustration below, temperature of the area where the sun shines can be about 50° F higher than the other (cold) area. When air circulates inside the lamp, the warm air reacts to the cold surface resulting in formation of condensation. Dew Formation Cold Area Circulation Hot Area 2) If an already warm lamp lens gets cooled down rapidly (e.g. when water is applied to the lens during vehicle washing), a sudden temperature change can occur resulting in the development of condensation. 2) Water cools down the lens. 3) Dew formation. 1) Inside of lamp is heated by sunshine.
