For some, this information may seem basic or even remedial but for others, very relevant and helpful, especially for those technicians who are new to the Subaru brand. Some of the topics will be especially beneficial when working with the Techline or field staff as part of repair escalation or reporting of new quality concerns. Knowing the proper way to access, save and send (e-mail) requested electronic data and information files can often help expedite accurate repair recommendations and solutions. Service Information Number: 01-172-14; Date: 08/13/14 Page 2 Continued… Identifying DTCs Stored In Memory For all vehicles except BRZ, click on “All other models”. Click on “Each System Check”. Service Information Number: 01-172-14; Date: 08/13/14 Page 3 Continued… Click on the system which has the DTC. For this demonstration, we are showing the Engine Control System. After selecting Engine Control System, you will need to confirm the engine type. In this case, this is a 2.5 Turbo STI. If the engine listed is correct, click “OK”. Service Information Number: 01-172-14; Date: 08/13/14 Page 4 Continued… To retrieve the DTCs stored in memory, click on “Diagnostic Code(s) Display”. Click on “Memorized Diagnostic Code(s)” to see the DTCs stored in memory. Service Information Number: 01-172-14; Date: 08/13/14 Page 5 Continued… P0117 is the only DTC stored in the engine computer (ECM) at this time. To save this, click on the F9 button above. After selecting the location where you want to save the file, you should rename the file the last 8 digits of the VIN then click “Save”. Service Information Number: 01-172-14; Date: 08/13/14 Page 6 Continued… Accessing and Saving Freeze Frame Data Click on “OBD System”. Click on “Freeze Frame Data Display”. The system will generate a file name but, you should rename the file the last 8 digits of the VIN. To save this file to send, click on the “File” button shown above, left. Click on “Current Data Display & Save”. Service Information Number: 01-172-14; Date: 08/13/14 Page 13 Continued… Click on “All data display”. Click on “F2” to “Hold” the data then…. Please change to the last 8 digits of the VIN. Your name will automatically show up in the “From” box. Please click the “To”: drop down arrow then select who you want to send the information to.
