INTRODUCTION
This bulletin provides a repair procedure to prevent water from accumulating then freezing inside
the door latch / actuator assembly in cold temperatures and binding the mechanism. Application
of a self-adhesive sealing tape to cover the water entry points will reduce the possibility of this
condition occurring.
COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION
The sealing tape has been added to the latch / actuator assembly in production starting with VIN
E*602754.
PART INFORMATION
The Sealing Tape part number is: 61039CA000. 2pcs. (1 per side) are required per vehicle.

• CAREFULLY remove the door trim panels and the latch / actuator assemblies following the
procedures outlined in the applicable Service Manual. Always store the trim panels in a safe
place to avoid damage while they are removed from the vehicle.
IMPORTANT: Review the illustrations below for proper application of the sealing tape. A “dry
run” with the sealing tape is recommended before peeling the adhesive backing to prevent improper
installation.
The illustrations and step-by-step photos below are provided as a reference for how the sealing tape
needs to be applied to the latch / actuator assembly. The term “close together” refers to areas where
the sealing tape material is adhered to itself to form a “seal”.

• Reassemble the doors in reverse order and verify proper operation to complete the repair.
NOTE: In the event a latch / actuator assembly is being replaced and the replacement part does not
have the sealing tape, it must be applied before installation.
