INTRODUCTION:
This bulletin announces a repair process to address a small number of cases where the original equipment key fobs (short range) may be unable to perform a remote start request on push button start models. This is a result of the incorrect remote engine start (RES) control module being supplied in the accessory installation kit. This situation occurs with the long-range push button start RES systems on applicable vehicles. The supplied “long-range” key fobs included in the accessory installation guide have normal operation under this condition. Though the original fob may have no remote start function, all other functions operate as intended. If this situation is duplicated, refer to the information outlined below.
IMPORTANT: The use of the the original equipment key for RES is an optional feature. The accessory supplied “long-range” fobs are preferred to be used when optimum performance is desired.
PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:
The new RES module has been fitted with the affected accessory installation kits.
