SUBJECT: | Squeaking Sound Occurs When Turning Steering Wheel |
INTRODUCTION:
This bulletin announces the repair procedure to address rare cases of a squeaking-type sound occurring when turning the steering wheel. This sound may be caused by a lack of lubrication where the dust seal contacts the steering joint assembly. If this situation is duplicated, follow the lubrication procedure outlined below.
PART INFORMATION:
Part Description | Part Number |
Niglube RX-2 | 000041000 |
*NOTE: ConocoPhillips Multiplex Red #2 may be used as a suitable equivalent.
SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION:
IMPORTANT: Steering joint assemblies with a white dot on the dust boot have already been updated with sufficient lubrication.
STEP 1: Locate the dust seal on the steering joint assembly. Pull the dust seal in an upward direction toward the steering wheel.
STEP 2: Push the dust seal in a downward direction away from the steering wheel. This will allow the old grease to be exposed.
STEP 3: Using a lint free cloth, remove any old grease from the steering joint shaft and dust seal.
STEP 4: Once the old grease is removed and the shaft surface is clean, thoroughly apply 1-2 grams of grease around the shaft.
STEP 5: Pull the dust seal in an upward direction toward the steering wheel.
STEP 6: Push the dust seal in a downward direction away from the steering wheel. Ensure the grease is evenly spread around the shaft.
STEP 7: Turn the steering wheel left to right to further spread the grease and confirm any squeaking-type sound is not present.

- HEAVY DUTY FRICTION, WEAR & RUST PROTECTION – This heavy duty grease provides longer life protection for your parts and implements against friction, wear, rust and corrosion.
- NSF CERTIFIED FOOD GRADE & CLEAN – Ths product is a NSF registered Food Grade lubricant, rated H1 for incidental food contact. Meets former USDA (H1) guidelines.
- WATER RESISTANT RUST INHIBITOR – Excellent water resistance and rust inhibiting properties
- WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE – Offers good mechanical stability, does not evaporate or form gummy deposits. It will not melt or separate.
- REDUCED DOWNTIME, INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY – Machinery lasts longer, downtime is reduced and productivity is increased.
- Synthetic Oil With Suspended Syncolon (Ptfe) Particles
- It Is Waterproof
- Usda/Nsf Rated H-1
- Reduces Friction And Wear
- Super Lube Oil
- NO DRIP, RUN, OR EVAPORATION – This multi-purpose grease comes in an aerosol form that is safe to use on anything that slides, rolls, swivels or squeaks. It is a synthetic, heavy duty lubricant that provides superior wear protection. It penetrates, lubricates and extends the life of machinery and equipment.
- NSF CERTIFIED FOOD GRADE & CLEAN – Ths product is a NSF registered Food Grade lubricant, rated H1 for incidental food contact. Meets former USDA (H1) guidelines.
- SUPERIOR WEAR PROTECTION – This lubricant transfers a microscopic PTFE film onto the contacting metal surfaces. This transfer film is extremely slippery, with one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any known solid material. It prevents direct metal-to-metal contact and abrasive wear.
- HIGH DIELECTRIC STRENGTH – Exhibits exceptionally high dielectric strength, enabling it to resistantly insulate and prevent arcing or tracking between electrical components operating at high voltages.
- SUPERIOR ANTI-WEAR PROPERTIES – Possess superior anti-wear qualities due to their fortification with specialized anti-wear and extreme pressure additives that create a protective film on metal surfaces, preventing excessive wear even under the high pressures and shock loadings found in hydraulic systems.
- Auto & Truck Maintenance
- Country of manufacture: United States
- Manufacturer: SUPER LUBE
- Package Dimensions: 18" L x 18" W x 21" H
- SUPERIOR AT LOW TEMPS – Superior at low temperatures, and has excellent oxidation resistance. Separates readily from water and resists foaming to extend oil filter intervals while assuring a clean system.
- NSF CERTIFIED FOOD GRADE & CLEAN – Ths product is a NSF registered Food Grade lubricant, rated H1 for incidental food contact. Meets former USDA (H1) guidelines.
- EXCELLENT OXIDATION RESISTANCE – The key advantage of good oxidation resistance is increased service life and lubrication performance over an extended period.
- SEPARATES READILY FROM WATER – Designed to separate easily from water thanks to their low pour point and carefully tailored additives that reduce the oils' affinity for moisture, allowing any water contamination to settle out for easy removal.
- SUPERIOR HEAT TRANSFER – Exhibits superior heat transfer properties compared to conventional mineral-based hydraulic fluids, allowing more efficient dissipation of heat generated by the hydraulic system and preventing premature fluid degradation or component failure from excessive temperatures.
