DTCs P0045 and/ or P2196: ECM Reprogramming File Availability – 2019 Subaru Ascent

NUMBER: 11-183-18R
DATE: 09/19/18
REVISED: 09/27/18

APPLICABILITY: 2019MY Ascent
SUBJECT: DTCs P0045 and/ or P2196: ECM Reprogramming File Availability

INTRODUCTION:

This bulletin announces reprogramming file availability to optimize the ECM.   These new files involve the ECM’s diagnosis of DTC P0045: TURBOCHARGER / SUPERCHARGER BOOST CONTROL “A” CIRCUIT OPEN and DTC P2196: A/F / O2 SENSOR SIGNAL BIASED / STUCK RICH BANK 1 SENSOR 1.

  • For P0045, in some cases, an engine RPM drop may occur when selecting D or R range too quickly following ignition on and before the engine reaches full operation during the ECM’s initial control of the waste gate valve.  Should this occur P0045 may set the next time the engine is started.
  • For P2196, if the driver “snaps” the throttle open and shut rapidly, normal judgement of the A/F sensor data may be inaccurate and cause the code to be detected in error.
