SUBJECT: | Change to Door Glass Retaining Bolts |
INTRODUCTION
This Service Information bulletin announces a change to the retaining bolt securing the door glass to the window regulator assembly. A slot to accept a flat-blade screw driver has been added to the end of the bolt to keep it from spinning while removing the retaining nut during door glass assembly R&R.
PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:
The slotted bolts were incorporated into production in September, 2014 starting with VIN: F*602206.

TOOL REQUIREMENT:
A special, thin (1.8mm) open-end 14mm wrench must be used to keep the glass retaining bolt from spinning while removing the retaining nut. This essential Subaru Special Tool, # SOA321105 will be shipped to each retailer. Replacements or extras can be ordered by accessing the Bosch Service Solutions website: Subarunet > Service > Special Service Tools.
SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION
- CAREFULLY remove the door trim panel following the procedure in the applicable Service Manual and set it aside in a safe place to avoid damage.
- CAREFULLY remove the vapor barrier only as much as necessary to access the door glass retaining bolts.
The illustrations below show both the pre and post-production change glass retaining bolt.
- Follow the window glass replacement and adjustment procedures outlined in the applicable Service Manual.
NOTE: If the vapor barrier is damaged during the repair, it must be replaced.
- Reinstall the door trim panel in the opposite order of removal.
- Confirm proper power window and door lock operation to complete the repair.
