SUBJECT: Removing Fabric Dye Transfer from Leather Upholstery

 

INTRODUCTION

This Service Information bulletin will provide a cleaning method for removing fabric dye which has transferred from clothing and become visible as staining or discoloration on light-colored leather seat upholstery.  An example of a cause for this condition is the blue dye used in some denim jeans.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE:  This condition is not a defect in the leather upholstery material and therefore, not a matter for warranty.

Leather Master

 

Both of the Leather Master products shown have been tested, evaluated and approved for use as directed by the manufacturer for cleaning leather upholstery by FHI.  They are readily available and can be ordered online from various retailers.

 

Service Procedure / Information:

Read the manufacturer’s instructions for each of these products completely before use and follow them closely to avoid damage to the vehicle’s leather during cleaning.
