This bulletin provides troubleshooting steps to follow when diagnosing customer concerns involving Bluetooth (BT) functionality.  Please start by completing the Harman Investigation Guide Questionnaire as it gathers important details which will help with diagnosis and will be required should the condition not be resolved by this troubleshooting.  While completing the questionnaire, follow the question flow based on the customer concern.   Answer each related question noting the results to each in detail while performing the diagnostics.  Review the entire bulletin before beginning in order to understand the flow for the listed concern.  If the concern you have is not listed, check the Service Manual “Infotainment (Diagnostics) – Diagnostics with Phenomena” section as a starting point.


Reprogramming File Availability to Improve Bluetooth Pairing – 2014-2015 Subaru Forester

This bulletin announces reprogramming file availability and a corresponding installation procedure which will allow Bluetooth pairing to be completed successfully when using voice commands on the Clarion audio units listed below.  Pairing of phones using voice recognition is the preferred method on these Clarion audio units.  See bulletin 15-185-15 for additional details on using voice recognition to pair phones to Clarion audio units.  The procedure will involve downloading the applicable update file from Subarunet then loading it onto a flash drive for installation.

SUBJECT: Pairing Android Smartphones



This Service Information bulletin contains a series of screen shots with instructions which provide a procedure for pairing Android smartphones to Bluetooth-equipped Clarion audio units.  The procedure involves changing the audio unit’s default “PASSKEY” which must be entered into the smartphone during the pairing process.  Once the PASSKEY is changed from “1234” to “0000”, testing results have shown the remainder of the pairing process completes normally.
